Violet's story I signed with PublishAmerica back in 1999, through a literary agent, don't ask. Back then, very little was on the Internet about PA or this slime literary agent I used. I did all the things I thought I was suppose to do, still got caught in the PA trap via way of this literary agent. After signing the contract (encouraged by my literary agent to do so) I met up with Ann Crispin on the Internet, didn't know her either but really liked her right from the start. She told me some terrible things that PA and done, about how they changed their name from AmericaHouse to Publish America, about how my books would never be placed in bookstores, although the contract PA had sent me said right the opposite from what she was telling me. Long story short, if it were now when I first thought about sending anything to PA and found all the things posted on the web about PA, never and I mean NEVER would I submit to them. Can you believe when I first signed with PA they didn't have the message board and HB Marcus was not one of their authors? Then when they got the message board up and running, anyone could come and post messages. That's when I met Victoria and when I started to realize what a big mistake I had made. Did I believe what was being said? No, I did not, I couldn't believe what I was reading. Now looking back over these last 5 or 6 years since PA took my book, I have long since placed it in a grave and forgot about it. Did I cry over the death of my book? Many, many tears. But, it's still dead and gone. Copyright © 2005 Violet |
